Frequently Asked Questions

 

When should I arrive to the workshop and leave?

You may arrive one day before we start the workshop (August 9th) and leave one day after we finish (August 30th) International students with different airline reservations may arrive 2 days earlier, and leave 2 days later, at an extra charge for the rooms (see prices page). Please let us know your dates of flights!.

 

Is there an airport in Valencia?

Yes, Valencia has an international airport. Please note that International flights might have connections in Madrid or Palma de Majorca.

Do I need a medical  insurance?

You MUST have a valid medical insurance. If you are from an EU country - your national medical insurance is good also for Spain. If you come from outside of the EU - we can arrange for you a student's insurance for approx. 35 Euro for the period of the workshop.

 

How far are the dormitories from the studios?

A 10 minutes walk.

 

How far to the beach?

a short tram ride will take you to the beach of Valencia, where there are also shopping centers, cafés and restaurants.

 

What is included in the meal plan?

The campus's cafeteria is located at the dormitories ground floor.

Breakfast: Bakery products, serial, muesli, milk, yogurt eggs, cheese, vegetables, jam, nutella etc...

Lunch: Menu changes daily, soup, salad, fruits, yogurt etc.,

Dinner: Menu changes daily - Meat, fish, chicken, vegetarian dishes, salad, desserts.

 

The menu will be published here in June 2010.

 

* We can handle any dietary problems like Glutton or Lactose allergies, vegetarians, etc. Please advice the office on arrival if you have any food allergies.

 

Where do I do my personal laundry?
There are washing machines for private use at a very small charge, including dryers.

 

Do I need to bring linen, towels or clean my own room?

There is a cleaning personnel, all rooms will be cleaned once a week, sheets and linen change once a week (supplied by the school, you do not need to bring any) and towels will be changed every 3 days.

 

What about security and dormitory rules?
The dormitories have a reception area opened 24 hours a day. The area is very safe and quiet. You will receive our House Rules on arrival.

 

Is there Internet in the rooms?

Yes, all the rooms have internet connection. There are also public computers connected to the internet at the students public areas. No extra charge.

 

Will there be other expenses that I have to pay?
Valencia is lovely in the summer and has wonderful restaurants, cafes, movie theaters. You will have to pay this yourself.  From previous experience, bring about 50 euro a week for spending pocket money.

Is there a dress code for the workshop?
We respect the traditional ballet dress code, try to look like a professional, mature ballet dancer.

What time shall I arrive to class?
The studio will be open 1 hour before classes begin. The detailed schedule will be posted every week in advance. It will specify what variation you learn, what rehearsal you take and the teachers of that week. There will be a different schedule each week. Some evenings will be blocked for dress rehearsals and light, and some evenings will be dedicated to lectures and showing movies about dance. The evening events are mandatory.
YOU MUST BE AT THE STUDIO AT LEAST 15 MIN. BEFORE YOUR TEACHER ARRIVES, AND DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, LEAVE THE STUDIO BEFORE THE END OF CLASS. (Unless its an emergency, and then do it discreet not to disturb class)

If I need private coaching?
This will be discussed case by case with your teacher. If you need it and we have an available studio, we will try to give some coaching.

How do I call my parents/friends in America or other countries?
You can buy a calling card for the public phones. Or make sure that your cell phone works in Europe.

What if my parents want to get in touch with me?
Nili Glaser, the workshop director will take messages in case of an emergency or very important issues at the following number: (+43) 676 939 7711

When can we do our shopping, banking etc...?
From previous experience we have decided to give the students one free day on Saturdays, to do their shopping, and anything else they wish to do on their free day. there will be also sightseeing excursions on those days which you can join. Sunday will be a regular working day, mostly for rehearsals.

Do you have an installment payment plan?
Yes we do have an installment plan. please contact Nili, for details. Please note that if you want to use the installment payments, you have to start latest on February, and there is a charge of 3.5% for each Credit cards payment. (PayPal) online will be charged additional 3.5%.
 

IMPORTANT: If you are on any prescribed medication, please notify the office, and bring enough supply with you as you might not be able to buy medicine in Valencia using a doctor's prescription from another country.
